About Me

On Wheeler Peak, New Mexico's Highest Point

My name is Michael McCafferty Jr. and I currently live in Durham, North Carolina. I started making YouTube videos at the end of 2012 and have continued to this day. My original focus was on the history of mathematics, but this has expanded to include videos related to high school math (PreAlgebra, Algebra 1 and 2, Trigonometry, and Precalculus), the CLEP test for College Algebra and Calculus, as well as videos for the ACT.

I have my Bachelor's Degree in Teaching High School Physics and my Master's Degree in Teaching High School Mathematics, both through Western Governors University (WGU). This online, non profit university gave me the ability to finish my school work while also traveling and living in different places. In the last several years, I have lived in Fort Collins Colorado, Boulder Colorado, New Orleans Louisiana, Brisbane Australia, and my home town of Saint Louis, Missouri for the last 4 years.

While living in Saint Louis, I worked at Notre Dame High School, an all girls catholic high school located in Saint Louis Missouri. I taught personal finance, algebra 1, algebra 2, honors algebra 1 and 2, and precalculus. I also started and ran the chess club.

My main hobbies are running, hiking, camping, playing chess, Xbox, cooking, and reading. I ran cross country and track in high school and have even coached for a couple seasons. In regards to reading, I prefer science fiction and some fantasy, though biographies, recipe books, and historical books are preferred on occasion.
